the #1800minutechallenge and a grand prize

Most of you know by now that fitness has become a huge part of my daily routine since the new year when Martin and I stated eating really clean and then decided to do an NPC competition. Since the competition was last Saturday we've been taking the traditional week-long break from exercise and clean eating to give our bodies a bit of a break from the strict lifestyle. I'm really looking forward to getting back to killing it at the gym in a big way next week however, and since so many of you have been following along on my fitness journey and are excited to hear all I have to share, I want YOU to join with me starting next week!! or rather, join me and these three other inspiring ladies since we've all combined forces:)
When Erin approached me about joining in this Instagram challenge, I thought it was the greatest idea! In a nut shell, we all (you included!) make the commitment to be physically active for roughly 30 minutes a day, or a lot this day and a little this day for a total of 1800 minutes(minimum) in 60 days! Starting next week on April 1st through May 31st, I'm committing myself to being active physically for a minimum of 1800 minutes. Are you with us?! The reasoning behind the 1800 minutes is so we have the freedom to skip a day or two one week and then do an hour workout or whatever the next week to catch up. Prefect for us busy women huh? Also the important thing to remember is that you don't have to kill yourself on the treadmill for it to count. We're saying to be physically active! As far as I'm concerned, that's anything that gets you breathing a little harder and gets your heart rate up. You know I'll be posting gym selfies from the weight room to remind you of the challenge and to cheer you on, but I'll also be counting that uphill climb with the stroller on the way to the park:)

Are you excited yet?! I am:) Instagram is already such a wonderful community for finding motivation and swapping encouragement with you my friends and readers, and the idea of joining forces with these awesome girls to reach so many more of you in the spirit of fitness and health, well that just gets me all giddy inside!
All four of us will be focused on motivating, inspiring, and keeping this whole thing exciting for you over the next 60 days. My goal is to have thousands of us all come together over the next 60 days to get healthy, become stronger, and perhaps shrink a few inches off of the places that need it. Swimsuit season is right around the corner whether we want to believe it or not.

Here's what you need to know:
1. You will want to sign up to be a part of the challenge just so we know who is joining in on the fun (and so that you have a chance to win the amazing grand prize at the end of the sixty days). You can register here

2. Starting April 1st, you will be responsible for tracking your own progress. Don't worry, I've gotcha covered. After signing up for the challenge, you will receive a spreadsheet via email from me which will allow you to quickly track and total your minutes!

3. Throughout the challenge use #1800MinuteChallenge on Instagram or Twitter so that those of us also participating can follow along and cheer you on. Make sure to follow me @thefreckledfox, also @livinginyellow, @alissamcircle, and @alyciagrayce on instagram for occasional workout ideas, our favorite playlists, and extra tips + tricks on how to get your 1800 minutes in!

4. At the end of the challenge (May 31st) those of you who have completed all 1800 minutes will email Erin your spreadsheet [livinginyellow@gmail.com]. On Monday, June 9th one winner will be drawn to receive the #1800MinuteChallenge grand prize. It's still a secret on what you will be receiving but don't worry, we will fill you in on the details as time goes on! Keep in mind that the best prize of all will be how great you feel and look at the end of the challenge. Our prizes will just be the cherry on top ;)

Who's ready to do this thing?! If you have questions about starting in on a fitness routine, I posted my Top 20 Tips to my blog last month in Part 1 and Part 2, also you can read about my personal fitness journey here, and of course you can always ask whatever questions you want! I hope you'll join in on the fun, and that you'll let me know if you do!
Take care, and I'll see you again tomorrow:)
xo, Emily

P.S. for those who've been asking for updates and pictures from our fitness competition, I'll be doing a recap post here very soon but for now visit my account on instagram and take a look at the pictures and such from last weekend! They're pretty difficult to miss:)

  2. Yay! This is so excited! I just completed my "Operation Get Fit" challenge where I was determined to get back into great shape for my One-Year postpartum mark and was doing so well. Then, partying planning got in the way and I kinda fell off for the past 10 days with minimal workouts and lots of leftover party junk food to eat. haha So yummy! But, I think I've indulged enough so it's time to find another challenge to go after and this is perfect. I just signed up and can't wait! Thanks Emily!

  5. Brilliant idea. I'm a fitness lover and personal trainer but kind of (briefly) fell off the weight lifting wagon last week since I was out of town. Time to get back to it. I hope I can help you three with encouraging everyone.

  16. Great idea! It'll be nice to have something like this to help hold myself accountable for getting some exercise (nearly) every day. I've still got about 6 pounds to go until I'm back to my "happy" weight, and this coincides almost perfectly with my 1 year postpartum mark also. A little extra motivation to keep myself moving!
