A bit on moving forward on my Photography Journey

Hey everyone! I had the amazing opportunity to register for a big Photography Workshop by Justin Hackworth this past week, and I couldn't be more excited! I realized that since its the biggest step I've taken so far in progressing my photography skills, and since the most common questions I get on my blog are about my photographs that I should not only spread the word about it a bit, but use this post to answer a few of your questions! The most common asked are: Who takes my photos, What kind of camera do I have, What type of schooling have I had, but most of all, what got me into Photography in the first place, so now read on and I'll tell you! 

The long answer will have to come in another post, but the short answer is that I first realized I wanted to be a photographer by discovering Justin Hackworth's photos here and there on Stephanie Nielson's blog, and being so touched by her words and the way Justin captured the sweet moments in their life (Stephanie's story was the reason I started blogging in the first place, but that's another story:)). I especially loved the tiny details, his candid shots that told such a beautiful and touching story. I thought that if all I could ever come close to shooting even just my family like that, then I'd be one happy lady. 

I bought my first DSLR in the fall of 2011, ever since then I'd been completely self taught and had really taken not a single class or course relating to photography. That changed when I had the amazing opportunity to attend Altitude Summit this past January, and who should I meet there but the artist himself! I was so honored and thrilled, because I'd been following his work for so long, and had a couple really great conversations and felt so inspired and encouraged! 

After I came home I found out that he was teaching little courses on the Alt Channel, and immediately jumped in to the first one I could find. Justin took the time to explain everything in such detail and precision  and I felt like I'd learned more in my first hour class with him then I did reading books for days! He's so passionate about his work, and you can really tell that he just loves teaching others to find that passion for themselves. He took the time to address everyones questions individually and as soon as it was over I signed up for another. and another:)

When I saw Justin advertising for his workshop in a few weeks I jumped at the opportunity to attend, because I couldn't and can't wait to work more one on one and really make the progress that I've been putting on the back-burner to being a wife and mom, and full time blogger! I've taken classes of his with all different levels of skill focus and I've always come away having learned much more then I expected. 

Heaven knows that whatever success my blog has had has been because I've taken the time with my photographs and to learn what I know, and I'm sure you can all say the same! I believe that our photographs are just about as important as our writing, if not more so, and that being said, are you gonna come progress your photography alongside me!? I would love to meet you and learn together! Even though I've come a long way with my photography, there are still SOO many little details that I still don't know yet about my camera, and my technique and who better to learn from then a person who's work inspired my whole journey into photography in the first place?! I can't think of anyone better. I can't wait to triple my knowledge and to take my skills to the next level and beyond, and I hope to see you there!
