Summers End Hair Week: The Braid Wrapped Bun

Hey everyone! So its Monday, and Monday always means a fresh start in lots of different ways, and today it means the start of a fresh new week of Hair Tutorials! I really love these weeks because it helps me crank out a bunch of tutorials in one go, and it helps me give you styles you've been requesting along with ones that I've been excited for. Lets see the first on the list!
This mini series I'm calling 'Summers End Hair Week' because in just a matter of weeks many of us are going back to school or work, or its the start of a whole new routine, etc, but all of us have to deal with the end of summer break and I feel the need for classic and easy looks for our hair that won't take more then 2-5 minutes to complete! With good first impressions in mind, I've tried to tone down the loose, flowy feel of Summer hairstyles and really bring in the more polished and sleek looks trending for Fall, and I'm so excited about this week of styles ahead!
One last thing, about this style, it only took me about 3 minutes to do, you can do it fresh out of the shower or after days of product(you'll just get a more textured look), and you only need a couple inches of hair coming out of the bun in order to have the braids, so if you use a smaller sock or doughnut you can do it with relatively shorter hair! Its classy, its chic, its feminine and elegant for evenings while being sharp and sophisticated for daytime. Perfect for those long days going from place to place! Lets get going:

Supplies:
- a brush
- 2 hairties
- 4 bobbypins
- 1 rolled sock or hair doughnut
- hairspray

Method:
Step 1: Brush your hair smooth and choose a nice side part. Pull all of your hair into a side ponytail on the opposite side of your head from where your part is. Tug the hair on your scalp out a bit from your ponytail to create more body all over.
Step 2: Use your hair doughnut (or sock) and pull your ponytail all the way through, leaving the doughnut at the base. Lean forward a bit and spread your hair around the doughnut as evenly as possible to cover it. Put another hairtie over all your hair covering the doughnut and tug your hair around the doughnut a bit more if you see spots showing a bit here or there.
Step 3: Separate the hair sticking out into two different sections. Braid them both loosely.  Wrap the first over the base of the bun in a clockwise direction, and the second over in a counterclockwise direction (or just wrap them around in opposite directions so they cross eachother) and secure them both with bobby-pins:) Spray your whole head with some hairspray, tugging the hair on your scalp out from the bun a bit more if its too tight, and Voila! All done:)
And I know I already said this was versatile, but again I've worn this to just about everything from a wedding to a rodeo, so there's really no limits! I'd love to hear what you think, especially if you give it a try, and feel free to pin if you want to keep it close at hand for later use! :)
Have a lovely Monday and start to your new week everybody, and I'll see you back again tomorrow with the next tutorial in the series!
xo, Emily
