Easy Rustic Raspberry Pie Twists

Hey everyone, and happy Saturday!! So I just have to start by saying that these are so incredibly easy and rewarding to make, and talk about getting into the Fall spirit! I know that we have a good month of warm weather around here at least to say nothing about where you may live, but that doesn't mean we can't start having Fall inspired treats. Besides, the lemon glaze is fresh and summery:) Take a look!
If I'm honest, these did not last more then 15 minutes by the way. They made the whole house smell fantastic, everyone was actually standing with plates waiting for them to come out of the oven, and you just try and not lick every last drop of that lemon glaze off your fingers. I dare you.
To be honest again a part of why these are so great is that they so don't have to look perfect. You know what I mean, those treats you're afraid to make for company because you're stressing over the presentation and the overall look, but with these who cares! You take a couple out of a basket with tongs or off a platter, drizzle some glaze over the top, eat them with your fingers or with a fork, and that's it! They're rustic, they're messy, they taste amazing. And did we already cover how fast and easy they are? K lets get started:

Rustic Raspberry Pie Twists
For the Twists:
- 1 pack pillsbury pie crusts
- 1/2 cup raspberry preserves
- 1/2 stick butter (4 tbsp for basting)
- powdered sugar for dusting

For the Lemon Glaze
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 2 teaspoons lemon zest

Step #1: Preheat your oven to 475 degrees Fahrenheit. Melt your butter in a small bowl for later. Spread a thin dusting of flour on the counter so your crust won't stick, and unroll your first crust all the way flat. Spread half of your raspberry perserves (1/4 cup) evenly over your crust.
Step #2: Match up your edges as you fold your crust in half. Use a pizza cutter to slice through the 'jam sandwich' 8-10 times depending on the desired width of your twists. I made 9 twists out of each crust with 8 slices, but for more defined twists I suggest 10 or more slices.
Step #3: Twist each strip twice (or more if you've made them smaller) and place on a well greased cookie sheet (I used wax paper in the photos because my sheet is losing its finish, but you'll have more problems with sticking if you do this) pressing on both ends to flatten them. Brush with melted butter (the sloppier the better), and bake in your oven till they're good and browned with a nice crisp, (about 12-14 minutes) brushing with butter a bit half-way through.
Step #4: When done, gently move to a cookie sheet and dust with powdered sugar. Serve immediately nice and hot or enjoy them cold, but don't leave out the glaze! Start by squeezing fresh lemon juice into a small bowl, and grating the zest right on top of it. Add in your powdered sugar a little at a time till its all combined nicely together.
And that's it! You can drizzle the glaze directly onto your twists or make a little puddle on your plate for dipping, or both! Again, who cares:)
Make them, love them, and sit back and enjoy all the 'mmmm's' your family and guests will be making.haha Oh and if you give them a try don't forget to let me know what you thought! I love nothing more than feedback:) Also, if you have strawberry preserves on hand or blueberry etc you'd rather use, I think they would taste fantastic! Just make sure that you use preserves and not jam or jellies etc. They won't be thick enough to come out the same.

Thank you so much for reading! See you tomorrow:)
xo, Emmy
