I consider myself to be a bit of a hot chocolate connoisseur, and this season since I didn't always have my favorite brands on hand, my favorite became one that Martin started making on the stove when I'd have a craving. When he's not around though I would be in serious trouble! Well the other day I had just such a craving for his rich creamy hot chocolate, and even though he wasn't home I just couldn't wait, so I decided to try making some on my own, and boy was I happy with the results!
The first thing I knew I needed was a good real chocolate base, so what did I have on hand since Easter is right around the corner? Cadbury Caramel Eggs! If you don't have any hanging around you really can substitute with just about any chocolate you have hanging around, even certain candy-bars would work, If it can melt completely, then you're all good. you be the judge:) Lets get started:
Easy Cadbury Egg Hot Chocolate
yeild: one large serving
Ingredients:
2 small Cadbury Eggs (or approx 3oz chocolate)
1 cup whole milk
1/4-1/3 cup cream
1 Tbsp dutched cocoa powder
1/2 tsp cinnamon
dash of nutmeg
Method:
Put a small saucepan on medium heat, and stir your milk till it starts to steam a bit (1-2 minutes). Mash your eggs between finger and thumb and add to your hot milk, stirring for another minute to dissolve. Once your chocolate is about gone, add in your cream and spices and continue stirring till it is all well combined (about 5-6 minutes in total). Pour into your favorite mug, top with plenty of whipped cream or marshmellows, sprinkle on a dash of cinnamon, and enjoy!
Easy enough right? Now wipe the drool off your chin and make some! Inhale it, love it, make it again:)
Have a great rest of your day! Its a Sushi and movie date night for me:)
