We love this dressing above all otehrs because we love a little kick on our salads. The lemon helps it taste light and fresh, and the onion powder gives it this lovely almost sweet taste. I've actually put a little in a small container before and taken it with me when we go out to eat, because I love it that much! Don't laugh! At any rate, give it a try an let me know what you think!
Em's Easy Garlic Dressing
yield: 1 quart
- 3 Cups Mayonnaise
- 1 1/2 tbs. Garlic powder
- 1 1/2 tbs. Dill
- 2 tbs. Onion powder
- 1 tbs Lemon juice
- 1 tbs. Vinegar
- 1 1/2 tsp. Cracked black pepper
- Dash Salt
Using a jar funnel, add your mayonnaise first into your jar (should fill about 2/3 full), and then add the rest of the ingredients on top. Fill your jar with water to a couple inches above the rim. Replace your mason jar lid, and give it some good strong shakes for a minute or so until the contents are well mixed. Give it a taste with your finger of choice, and add a little more of this or that spice till it's just what you like! Voilà!
Note: Normally I would choose to use freshly pressed garlic and onion, fresh dill and so on, but using the powders makes it a lot cheaper, and I always have all the ingredients on hand! Keep in mind that If you choose to use fresh ingredients that they will be much more potent, so adjust your measurements accordingly:)
I make it in a 1 quart mason jar and it lasts about a week+ for us, but if you're not big salad eaters you could easily half the ingredients to make only a pint if you'd like:) I also like ours a bit runny, because I feel like I use less dressing that way and my salad tastes more fresh! So this recipe is really just to give you general guidelines, but of course if there's a spice that isn't your favorite etc its totally customizable!
As usual let me know if you have any questions, and have a terrific day my lovelies!!
