Em's Easy Garlic Dressing

Hey folks! Hope you've had a good week so far! Today I want to share with you a recipe for the go to dressing in this house. For the longest time we were buying salad dressings and than sprinkling cracked pepper, garlic powder, and dill etc on our salads, so I thought why not just come up with a dressing that included a good marriage of all our favorite salad spices! And this simple, quick and yummy garlic dressing was born.
We love this dressing above all otehrs because we love a little kick on our salads. The lemon helps it taste light and fresh, and the onion powder gives it this lovely almost sweet taste. I've actually put a little in a small container before and taken it with me when we go out to eat, because I love it that much! Don't laugh! At any rate, give it a try an let me know what you think!
Em's Easy Garlic Dressing
yield: 1 quart
Ingredients:

  • 3 Cups Mayonnaise
  • 1 1/2 tbs. Garlic powder
  • 1 1/2 tbs. Dill
  • 2 tbs. Onion powder
  • 1 tbs Lemon juice
  • 1 tbs. Vinegar
  • 1 1/2 tsp. Cracked black pepper
  • Dash Salt
  • Water

Method:
Using a jar funnel, add your mayonnaise first into your jar (should fill about 2/3 full), and then add the rest of the ingredients on top. Fill your jar with water to a couple inches above the rim. Replace your mason jar lid, and give it some good strong shakes for a minute or so until the contents are well mixed. Give it a taste with your finger of choice, and add a little more of this or that spice till it's just what you like! VoilĂ !
Note: Normally I would choose to use freshly pressed garlic and onion, fresh dill and so on, but using the powders makes it a lot cheaper, and I always have all the ingredients on hand! Keep in mind that If you choose to use fresh ingredients that they will be much more potent, so adjust your measurements accordingly:)
I make it in a 1 quart mason jar and it lasts about a week+ for us, but if you're not big salad eaters you could easily half the ingredients to make only a pint if you'd like:) I also like ours a bit runny, because I feel like I use less dressing that way and my salad tastes more fresh! So this recipe is really just to give you general guidelines, but of course if there's a spice that isn't your favorite etc its totally customizable!

As usual let me know if you have any questions, and have a terrific day my lovelies!!
xo, Emily
