Something truly awesome happened yesterday.
After clicking 'send' on an overly long reply to a sweet reader who wrote with some self-love struggles, I decided to challenge my friends/followers on Instagram and Facebook to post at least one thing that they loved about themselves and would never change (inside or out). I also added that they should tag a friend to take the same challenge and maybe share something they loved about that friend as well.
Visit the posts on Instagram and Facebook to read the hundreds of amazing players who took just a couple minutes out of their day to really appreciate the value and beauty in their own unique and talents and traits, and spreading that love to friends. If you can get through even a couple comments without getting emotional than you're much tougher than I am.haha
Reading so many messages of self-love and sweet friendships makes me heart so happy:)
Side-note: One thoughtful commenter asked that I change the rules to not allow us to include physical traits in the comments. While I definitely see the virtue in that (what matters most is on the inside, after all:)), I decided to leave the rules alone because I believe that more often than not, our biggest insecurities are about our physical appearances, and so I wanted everyone to have the chance to acknowledge their beautiful outer-selves as much as possible. I hope that makes sense!
So! You knew this was coming I'm sure, but if you haven't already joined in 'the game' and would accept the challenge of naming at least one thing about yourself that you'd never change, I would LOVE love for you to leave it down below in the comments for us to read:)
Thank you all so much for coming together and sharing in my big circle of self-love/friendship/gushy-party-fest thing. See y'all back here tomorrow.haha

Oh my goodness, I love this idea so much! I actually saw this on your Instagram and thought it was a fabulous idea:)
ReplyDeleteLet's see, for me...probably my eyes:)

So glad to hear it! we're so quick to rag on our outward appearances, and I just love how a simple positive thought can be enough to change our day for the better:)
DeleteThis is such a beautiful idea, it's so important to spread love when social media and posts online can have our insecurities magnified.

I couldn't agree more. Some people seem to line up at the end of an extra long work day or something to take cheap shots at others in order to make themselves feel better, and with the anonymity of the internet it's even easier these days than it's ever been.
DeleteThanks so much for your comment:)
I love how resilient I am. I have gone through many health struggles (and am STILL going through them) but always manage to pick myself up. It makes me proud.
ReplyDeleteThat's such an awesome realization, and knowing that will make you able to withstand anything that life throws at you:)
DeleteI loooove my eyes. They're green and yellow and nobody in my family (including extended) has green eyes. I love that they're rare...it makes me feel unique! :)
ReplyDeleteThat's wonderful! Knowing how uniquely special we are is an awesome thing:)
DeleteThanks so much for visiting and commenting!

What a great idea! I love my blue eyes. it is like wearing my heart on my sleeve. The expression of my eyes is a dead giveaway as to what kind of a day I am having. Also, I love my hair. It is naturally straight and it is mine.
ReplyDeleteperfect:) Thank you so much for sharing.
DeleteGreat idea!

thank you! I know it might seem weird to some, but we're way too hard on ourselves day after day:)
Deletei love this. You are so inspiring. I would love to see more posts about you & motherhood and your family. I've been having a rough few weeks with motherhood and you are so amazing with five! You are a bright light Emily! Hugs :)
ReplyDeleteWow thank you so much! If you have any specific requests I'd be more than happy to share, since there are so many many angles I can take on this blog, it often gets overwhelming just how many topics I want to cover, especially after coming back from such a big break.
Deleteand I know it's a late response but I really needed that hug so thanks:) haha
Its a great idea :) I really like my hair. Thanks for making me take a minute to think about it xx

You're so welcome! That's exactly what I hoped to achieve with the game:)
DeleteI love this! I have to be honest, it's actually really difficult for me to think of a response to this (which tells you something about how I look at myself, I suppose). However, I've decided that I love: my ample bottom (because who wouldn't), my big feet (because the bigger sizes are always the ones that end up on sale), and the grin I have that makes my eyes crinkle...because that means I'm truly happy :D

I loved loved your response Adriana, since that it exactly what my goal was in posting that:) People can say whatever they want about how its narcissistic or whatever, but as a whole we are all way too critical of ourselves, and the rest of the world is for sure way too critical of us, and taking just a couple minutes out of our day for some self-love can never be a bad thing:)
DeleteKeep your chin up beautiful! xoxo
thanks for this post. so perfect today! xo Jamie
