What I Wore // tried and true denim + 2015 denim trends

Hey loves! One of my biggest goals for the new year has to do with our closets-to buy with more intent, to donate whatever wasn't getting enough use in order to simplify, and to utilize the staple items that are tried and true and that never go out of style. Today I'm excited to go more into that as I partner with Sears in sharing details on denim!

As I went through my closet this month and started making a list of my most important staples, my favorite pairs of jeans (from Sears) were the first thing on the list-as I'm sure they would be for you too! Denim never goes out of style, it matches with anything and everything, you can wear your favorite pair with pearls and heels for a big night out, and the next day roll up that same pair with flip flops and a torn t-shirt to go build sandcastles.haha

Here are a couple other favorites from the Canyon River Blues line sold at Sears:
side stripe skinnies      |      low-rise skinnies      |      color block skinnies      |      embellished skinnies

But of course denim isn't just about jeans! The Spring 2015 runway trends are full of all different types of denim, for every mood and every occasion there's a jean, a dress, a jacket, a skirt, you name it. Denim hasn't been this diverse or fashion forward for years, and it's time to get on the wagon train!

The top 5 denim trends from the Spring 2015 runways are grouped into these five categories:
1| super clean and crisp - classic silhouettes and shapes like skinny and boot-cut (never out of style!)
2| wider legs, shorter hems - think loose capri pants with rolled cuffs or high waists
3| long jean skirts - made with flexible weaves and with slits added for extra ease and comfort
4| messed up denim - even more shredding and fraying than ever before:)
5| patchey and decorated - covered with beading or color blocking, leather patches, brocade incerts, etc.

That sounds like just about any type of denim I have or want to buy will be technically 'on trend' without any extra effort! I'm excited to take more risks with clothing this year, and I'm excited to go to my favorite stores and bring home new and different ways to wear denim! I do have a big comfort zone (believe it or not) when it comes to clothing, and I want to break out of that in 2015. Are you with me? :)

What's your favorite way to wear denim lately? Have a fantastic rest of your week, and I'll see you back here tomorrow!

  2. I'm always at a loss for denim pants. It's not something I'm proud of but I currently only own 2 pairs of them, both by Holister. I'm going to have to head over to Sears to step up my game!

  6. I'm actually not big on denim and I abhor jeans. If I could get rid of all my jeans and replace them with skirts and dresses I'd be thrilled. haha However I have a new denim mini skirt I can't wait for it to warm up so I can wear it and a new denim jacket that I've been enjoying (albeit not the most flexible, but still fun!)
