Weekend Wrap-up

This Week: well it started out on Monday with me still in Utah living through some aftermath of the Altitude Summit bloggers conference I went to, so as you can imagine I was still a bit overwhelmed with all of the info that I'd absorbed and trying to make sense of it all in my head. If you want a huge crash course in blogging or a big fat kick in the butt to get a move on, go to a blog conference! I know many of you wanted to attend, and I had lots of fun chatting with you guys on twitter and instagram about what was going on, so thanks for following along! Once I got home it really was a big whirlwind trying to get back into a routine with the kids and the house. They still call down for dad when they wake up, and he still knows new little things about them that I missed when I was gone and it is kinda weird.haha On an exciting note, Martin said I could do a big overhaul of the office! So I'll be taking lots of pictures of the process, painting, restyling, etc, so follow along if you wish, and if you have any input please don't hesitate to say! Lets see, I officially started my 'shop my closet' instagram by posting a dozen or so pairs of my shoes, I went on a really fun thrifting trip, and I rendered my legs useless by taking my sister out for a really intense leg day.haha Can't. walk.
Weekly Snapshots: a beautifully dreary day,  a little red for February 1st, my little darlin' in her happy place, @shopfreckledfox, pretty indecisive weather, new batch of bottles at the antiques store, my big little boy,  mini love sculpture at the BYU Museum of Art.

To-do's and Goals for the Week:
- catch up on the laundry
- send out those packages
- take the kids to the park, weather permitting
- dump the pictures off my phone
- drink lots more herbal tea
- pick out a paint color for the office
- start the make-over
- keep up with all my workouts
- have a little photo-shoot with Lydia
- start a new book (recommendations welcome!)
- sing a little more

A Few Facts:
  • If I could have any super power it would be to never need sleep. I'd be superwoman.haha
  • news flash: I love the dough more than the dessert, every time.
  • Did you know that I'm on Lookbook? I've been catching up my outfits lately, so if that's your thing, come find me and say hi!
  • I've never been on a cruise, but we may get to go on one this year! Have you ever been?
Thanks for visiting and reading my blog! I appreciate it so much. Have a fantastic week ahead you guys, and I'll see you back here soon!
xo, Emily

P.S. Make sure and follow along on Instagram if you fancy the most immediate updates from me and the fam

  1. Hi Emily! (First-time commenter!) I have been on 2 cruises in my life--one with a friend in college and one with my husband a couple years after getting married. I loved the first cruise, but I don't think I would go on a cruise with my husband again. People of his personality type don't do well on cruises--he likes non-relaxing holidays better. And since he had just finished grad school at the time, it's not like the preceding weeks were filled with tough work--he was kind of already cooling his heels. I think a cruise is great if you allow yourself some splurging (don't go the cheapest route with everything or else it won't feel as good) and consider excursions that aren't necessarily through the cruise line (it can be way cheaper that way). I think the best way to enjoy a cruise is going with someone you need to catch up with (my college friend and I weren't at the same university anymore) and going when you've been working hard for a bit an really need the break. Hope you have fun!

  4. I am with you on the sleep thing! It's sad, because sleep is totally amazing, but honestly if I didn't need sleep my life would be a lot easier! I'm also terrible at moving iPhone pics to the computer.

  8. Just got back from my first cruise and it was amazing, Highly recommend this type of vacation. Funny thing I swear your twin was on my cruise but they only had three little ones( and I never thought I would use those two words together "only three" when referring to children lol). Guess that means it is fate and you are supposed to go on a cruise.
