Holiday Hair Week - Tutorial #3: Kate Inspired Updo

There aren't many dressy hairstyles that are appropriate for weddings and parties, that are particularly easy to do on ones self, but I've found this to be one of the best! I've vowed to only show hair styles to you that you can perform on your own head, because most of us don't have someone waiting in the wings to do our hair for us on a regular basis! Mores the pity right? :)
This style was inspired by a recent Kate Middleton do, and I had several requests from you lovely readers for a step-by-step! The reason I love this method for achieving it the most is because of the braided bit on the sides are the signature part of her look, and the ease of using loops to form the bun in the back make it incredibly fast to achieve. So lets get started ladies!
Supplies:
- curling iron
- brush
- bobby pins
- hair spray
- two-way mirror

Method:
Step 1: Start with curled or wavy hair and spritz your whole head lightly with spray. Brush through your curls a bit with your fingers, and seperate a large fringe or bangs section, clipping it up for later. back comb a bit on your crown for volume, remembering to smooth over the top when you're done.
Step 2: section off two three inch sections by each ear and braid them to the ends, pulling the braids apart a little for width. Take the hair on your crown you teased earlier and smooth it back into a slight poof, pinning it securely.
Step 3: choose your part and smooth your bang section to the side. Tuck your bang sections behind your braid and pin your braids together at the back or your head.
Step 4: begin taking twi inch sections from the bottom section of your hair and wrap it around your fingers creating a loop. Pin the loop to your head with a bobby pin or two, and repeat using all the rest of your hair! Make sure and keep checking on the back of your head to make sure you're creating a wide bun shape. Shalac a bit with hairspray, and you're all done!
I hope you give it a try ladies! Its really not as complicated as it looks, it didn't take me more then 10-15 minutes! I'd love to hear feedback if you decide to give it a try, and I'd love to see pictures!

Thanks for stopping by today, and have a terrific Wednesday!
xoxo, Emily
