HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY

I hope your holiday was wonderful. That's all:)

Also I would give so so much to be on Aran Island in Ireland with my crazy clan celebrating the proper way. It looks like such an amazingly beautiful place! Defeinitely at the top of our 'Dream Destinations' list.

Have you ever been to Ireland? Are you from Ireland?! Do you have any Irish in your blood? Please share your favorite St. Patrick's Day traditions so I can add a few to our list? haha

Alright bye for now.

  2. My parents are from Ireland and my 17 year old daughter just spent 2 weeks touring Dublin, Belfast, and much of the East coast of Ireland. One tradition that many of the Irish have that I try to incorporate in our home is cooking one pot dinners, often called Jig's Dinner! In one large pot goes everything...cured meat, carrots, turnip, and of course, potatoes. Then on top, dumplings. We save those for dessert topped with honey or molasses. Happy belated St. Patrick's Day!

  3. I am Irish, born and bred, but currently in London, England with my Husband (who is also Irish!), one of our favourite things to eat on Paddy's Day is proper Irish soda bread and we will always call our families too of course! A bit of a tradition that has occurred since we've been away, is taking on the responsibility of correcting anyone we come across who insists on saying "St. Patty's Day"...it's just not what it's called at all! It's either "St. Patrick's Day" or "St. Paddy's Day" that is all :-) heehee!! Hope you and your family had a great day! Rxx

  4. I definitely want to take a trip to Ireland soon! My great grandfather's family were immigrants from Ireland, so I have Irish blood (and LOVE it). We like to have Lamb stew or Corned beef and cabbage on St. Patrick's day! :)

  7. My dad was born in Ireland and immigrated with my grandmother when he was two. Growing up, I loved hearing all the stories about Ireland and the fireplace shop my great-grandparents owned in Dublin and the stories from during the war were incredible and so fascinating! So, I'm about 3/4 Irish, the rest is a mix of English, French...Someday I want to visit and go to all the places I heard stories about. It is such a beautiful Country! Happy belated St. Paddy's Day! :-)

  8. I am not a hint Irish, but I've always been obsessed with the country - even since I was a little girl! I actually won two plane tickets there last year and finally was able to make my dream come true. Only problem is, NOW I WANT TO GO BACK. Now that I've seen it, I'm even MORE obsessed! That's how travel works, right? :)

  9. My husband asked me to marry him when we were on our holiday in Ireland (at the Cliffs of Moher). A year later, we went back there on our honeymoon, and we visited the Aran Islands as well. We rode a tandem bike (I did it for the first time) - the best memories of my life. I truly love everything about that country, that is certainly my dream destination - we could spend all our holidays there <3 Now we are waiting for our little baby to be old enough so we could take her with us. I hope, soon, because for some reason, Ireland is where we both feel most "at home" in the world. (We are from Hungary, by the way, so no official Irish blood, still :) )

  10. My sister & I visited the Aran Islands & it was definitely the funniest part of our entire trip! They have bikes for you to rent & ride around the island on, which is exactly what we did. We had the brilliant idea of following the bike trail in reverse order & visit the points of interest while avoiding the crowds. Little did we know that this meant we were going uphill most of the time. (Did I mention it started raining on us?) Then we didn't have any cash at the local pub after we had eaten (the waitress was not amused). Thankfully a nice Canadian man offered to bail us out of the kitchen if we got stuck doing dishes.haha We did make it to the main point of interest (the cliffs) but had about 5 minutes to enjoy it before we had to book it back across the island to make the 5o'clock ferry. I could keep going with what all happened on that bike trip, but I'll refrain. :)

  12. My daughter and I are going to Inis Oirr ( one of the Aran islands ) in 2 months ! Can't wait to see the beautiful scenery & the peaceful island. There are some fun documentaries to watch on TG4 about these islands . Which is the Gaelic channel for that area. They have English subtitles. My daughter is learning Gaelic. Overall it's our favorite show to watch. You can get it on the internet.

  14. An interesting post on St. Patrick's Day. Loved reading it completely. We too had a great time on St. Patrick’s Day. Attended a grand party at one of party venues in NYC. Was one of best parties I ever attended.
