What I Wore // my new favorite shirt + a bit on 'Home'

Hi friends, I hope you're having a great start to your week! I got an email not long ago from a follower who is moving to a new city and was sad to be leaving home, she wanted to know how I dealt with leaving my home where I grew up and moving across the states (actually most of you probably don't know that I moved with my family from Delaware to Idaho when I was in high-school:)). I won't go into as much detail here as I did for her, but since I'm wearing my Home T-shirt here, I thought it'd be perfect to share a bit about that!
'Home' means different things to different people of course, but to me it's wherever my heart is , wherever my family is. The important relationships we come to know become home.  I knew I would miss living by the coast when we left Delaware. I missed my friends. I missed the excess of green and all the wildlife everywhere, but I was so excited for the adventures ahead, and the contrast of moving out west to the desert! Not everyone can be so lucky, some people have to leave their homes because of work, or school, or are military families, and some people I know count the days till they'll be able to move back. The best tip I can give is to have an open mind, and keep yourself busy! Find the good if you can and live in the moment instead of holding onto the negative and letting life pass you by:)
Martin and I have big plans of traveling the world when we grow up *wink*, and we may go on extended vacations to exotic or rustic places around the world, but I think that Idaho will always be our home. Both of our parents live here, we met, courted, were married, and started our family here, martin's work is here, and we can hop down to Salt Lake City, or up to Boise for my work at any time, and I don't think we'll ever have a reason to leave!
wearing: sunglasses - tj maxx // cuff - c/o nickle and suede // necklace - c/o forever21 // idaho t-shirt - c/o the home t // leather pants - ross // sneakers - target
Well, I should probably quit while I'm ahead, but before I go I just wanted to give you guys the link to where I got this shirt, because it's literally my favorite T-shirt ever! I've worn it more times than I can count, and I always find myself picking it over all my others.haha The home-t people are also incredibly accommodating and awesome to work with, so I hope you get over there and order a couple shirts of your own! I should also add that this post was NOT sponsored by Home T, and that this is my honest-to-goodness genuine opinion.haha
Thanks as always for stopping by, and don't miss tomorrow's post!

  2. I agree, home is wherever your heart is! I've left pieces of my heart in Alabama, Pittsburgh and now Utah. Going back to any of these places feels right at home ❤️ Thanks for sharing your insight!

  3. I totally feel you on this one! I'm from California and deeply in love with my home state. I actually wear a necklace in the shape of California around my neck. I totally see why you love this tee!

  4. We've had to move various times, not across country, but out of the area. My biggest help is not to wait for someone to make you feel welcome. I watch people at church and elsewhere, then invite people over to dinner. I make our family known while watching for others who feel a little unwelcome or nervous. Some of my favorite I met during these dinners were also newcomers.
It helps to discover new things around the city if you've already made a friend. ;)

  11. Lady, your hair! It's just fantastic! How do you maintain the length like that? My hair is really fine and I can never get it to grow long and stay full. It always ends up looking stringy. Can I request a post about your hair care routine?!

  12. The shirt is nice, but your hair is better. :) Red hair on dark clothes looks even more brilliant than it usually does.
