Thinking back through when I was growing up to now, I realize that my mother not only is the biggest and best example of an amazing wife and mother that I could possibly want or need, but also the most selfless person I've ever known. I'm one of the younger children in a huge family, and on top of birthing all those children(most of them naturally), she chose to deal with them all 24 hours a day by homeschooling us all. I never understood when I was little of course, but now that I have my own life and family I realize just how much she did for us and others, and how little I ever saw her do anything for herself, or take time off. She was always doing thirty things at once between cooking massive meals to up-keeping our huge garden, playing piano for singers and concerts, teaching music and school lessons, driving kids to and from, lots of time on the phone finding ways to help others, etc etc. She went to bed long after we all did and woke up way before, and yet through all that she still managed to be happy and sweet all the time. I could never be as selfless as she is and has always been, but at least I'm close enough to her that I can try and learn, every day:) Love you mom!

My mum has set such a great example to me too, and also told me that she would never be disappointed in me. For a worrier, that was awesome!

  12. My mom's best advice came when I was really discouraged and second guessing every decision I'd made. We were in the car and she asked me why the rear-view mirror was so small in comparison to the windshield. I was probably too busy crying to respond, to be honest! But she said it's the same with life; looking back is useful, but we were ultimately made to look to the future and be open to possibilities. I'll never forget it.

  14. My mom and I have a great relationship! And over the years she's offered me wonderful advice, the best of which is to wear clothing that fits your body type and learn which styles and colors look best on you when it comes to your coloring, etc. She's a special lady. :)

  18. The best advice my mom gave me when shopping or dressing myself was to always dress appropriate enough to run into anyone I might know and not be embarrassed and to dress classic so that I won't be embarrassed to see a picture of myself 10 years from now.
