Hair Tutorial// The Braided Top-knot

I've been doing this style a lot lately because (believe it or not) I'm a huge bun/top-knot person, and sometimes I just need to switch it up a bit! This style does all the same things I love about my regular bun, but just gives a little fresh air to my every-day hair routine:
As usual, this style is very quick! and its so simple it really doesn't need a step-by-step, but I'm all about being over-helpful whenever possible, so here it is:
Supplies:

  • 2 hair-ties
  • several bobby pins
Step #1. Use your fingers to 'brush' your hair up into a high ponytail on top of you head, pulling your bangs to one side (if you have them of course:)). Using your fingers will give the easy textured look to the sides of your top-knot. Brush for a smoother look.
Step #2. Braid your ponytail loosely from top to start to finish, and secure with another hair-tie. Tug your hair out here and there if you wish to make your braid a bit thicker looking.
Step #3. Pull your braided ponytail forward and start spiraling it in a clockwise motion around itself (again loosely) until you run out of braid! Tuck the end under the bun, and pin about 4-6 times or until you feel it's secure. Done, and done!
Thanks so much for stopping by today! It really gets me excited when i hear stories about readers trying hairstyles using one of my tutorials, so let me know if you have, or plan to!

Have a lovely, lovely day:)
xo, Emily

  3. Hey, this looks pretty easy and like something I could actually do with my hair (opposed to a boring ponytail every day). I'mma have to get myself some bobby pins (don't seem to have any here at college, haha!) and try this out. :)

  7. I need to try this. I love braided hair. I recently did my hair in a heart shape braid in the back. When you have long hair, its nice to get it off your neck.
