My Favorite Apps

For a while now I've been getting requests from you guys asking which apps I love and use the most, so I thought it'd be a good post to just share my favorites/most used in a few different categories to answer your questions, and also to find out which are YOUR favorites! Because we're always on the look-out for fun new apps, and there are a few categories in particular that I need your help especially with recommendations. So lets get to it:
// Educational :
Ibooks: My favorite app to buy and read books on. It hasn't had any hiccups like other apps I've tried:)
Pinterest: Yes I've included Pinterest in the educational, because lately I've been using it the most when I'm wanting to do some sort of DIY and I just search and find a good tutorials. It's been so great.
YouTube: Same as the Pinterest, I can find any tutorial for doing anything I want and watching is a lot easier.
What to Expect Fertility: I love this wither I'm pregnant or not because I can search any topic to do with pregnancy and fertility and there are tons of other women on there answering questions and chatting about things. It's great.
// Social :
Instagram: I am oh too addicted to Instagram. I just love the photo journal aspect of it. I love that I'm taking pictures all day long now, and I love love especially seeing what's going on with you guys through your photos and words. It's my absolute favorite:)
Bloglovin': I love that I can easily view my favorite friends and bloggers posts right from my phone in one place. I know there are other apps that do this a well, but this is just my favorite.
Facebook: I'm not a huge fan of many aspects of Facebook, but I use this app for keeping in touch with long lost friends and family that I wouldn't be able to keep in touch with otherwise. It's great to see who's pregnant or getting married, that type of stuff:)
Twitter: I love this for getting in touch with people the quickest, and also keeping up with friends day-to-day.
// Fitness :
Lose it!: There's no real way to condense all this app does, but mainly it keeps track of all your meals and workouts and keeps a constant tracker of your calorie intake. I love that I can search a food at the grocery store or any restaurant and they have it logged in! So convenient.
My Fit Pal: Basically the same as the Lose It app, except you can share your stats with friends if you want.
Running(by nike plus): Helps keep track of distance and calories and is great for tracking progress over time.
// Games :
Jelly Splash: So addicting, and so fun! I'm to a level where I'm so stuck, but I keep going back to try:)
Solitaire: I use this before bed often when I'm trying to get my mind off work and want to tire out my eyes.haha
My Country 2020: I find that I have phases on and off this app, but when I am wanting a strategy sort of game,
Hill Climb: This game can get pretty addicting once you get going, but it really didn't get to me until I learned how to use the peddles the right way, after that there was no excuse why I shouldn't win every time.haha
// Photo editors/collages :
Afterlight: after I installed afterlight I stopped using instagram's filters right away because these are so much better. It also has lots of other great features like tons of frames and thorough photo edits that make it my favorite.
Whitagram: I use this to quickly add white borders to vertical or horizontal images that aren't square.
Pic Stitch: This is my favorite app for making collages! This is probably the most asked question.haha When I post outfit photos or any other groupings and don't want multiple posts in a row, I use this little baby.
PicTapGo. Also a great editor, with tons of filters and edits, and it remembers which ones you use the most and lets you customize your own and then save them which is super nice, I just find that I spend way too much time having fun with photos, so it sucks my time a bit when I use it.haha
// Music :
Pandora - I love this app for obvious reasons, that I can select one of my channels and know that I'm going to be treated to perfect songs for whatever mood I'm in at the moment. It's been well trained.
Rdio - I love Rdio for when I'm needing specific songs that are my favorites. I have all my playlists for working out etc set up, and also it's great
Spotify - I've just jumped on the spotify train and I really love it! From what I understand it's kind-of a blend of Pandora and Rdio because I can play my music and playlists that I've saved but also I can turn on the radio and have it select songs according to genre etc,
Itunes Radio - The thing that I love about THIS music player that I didn't realize for a long time was that while I'm listening to the radio, because it's in iTunes, I can click to add any song I really love to my iTunes wishlist to buy later! That's my least favorite part about Pandora, that I can never remember the songs I love.
// Kids :
Anfry Birds Rio: Obvious reasons, it's noise, it's fun, it takes little brain capacity.haha
Bubbles: This is mostly for John, but guaranteed while we're waiting for our food at a restaurant or for the movie to start etc, if I whip this out it will calm any growing temper tantrum. He loves it.
Pacman: Ellie just started getting into this one and now she asks me to play it all the time! She's daddy's girl:)
Ant crusher - This is Sophie's personal favorite. She always asks for "da ants mom? pay da ants?" haha

And that's about it! I'm pretty sure that 100% of those are free by the way:) Also I'd love to hear which of these are also your favorites, maybe you don't like something about some of them, and also I really would Love Love any suggestions you have! I only find new apps by searching an idea or by stumbling on them, so getting recommended apps from my friends would make my life so much easier.haha Any category really! Oh but for those of you with kids, do you have a good chore app that you use? I'm thinking the girls would love that and there are tons to choose from.
Anyway's thanks so much for reading, really, feel free to ask for apps in a category that I didn't list (I just tried to cover the categories most asked for), and don't forget to leave your favorite app in the comments!
xoxo, Emily

  4. Thank you for sharing! My favourite photo app is pixlromatic.
    It has filter and nice little effects and frames.
    Sadly your apps aren't free for me - maybe that's because I live in Europe. I'm pretty sure we have different iTunes stores.. ;)

  10. Great post! Just stumbled upon your blog today so I'm not sure how old your kids are, but I love Peek-a-Zoo for my toddler. I'm a self-proclaimed photo geek. Have you tried Fotor photo editor? I love it. Editing and size modification in one. I used it for a lot of my blog and travel photos.
