our little trip

Did you guys have a good week I hope? We did:) This post is about our cabin trip last week however, because I have a few things to tell, and pictures to share.
Last week we took advantage of a little downtime at work and sped off to the hills for a week of precious isolated 'just-us' family time. We spent it staying up late with snugly smoldering fires, than sleeping in till the warm rays of sunshine streamed through the window on our bare toesies. We also took about 2-3 long walks a day with the kiddies and explored the surrounding hills for miles. On one such hike martin climbed to the top of a large steep hill to pick me a bouquet of wildflowers.
Ellie was a champion hiker and made many new discoveries with each walk we went on. The girls also made friends with many bugs, small critters and amphibians. Martin doubled the work on his book, and I finished a nice little stack of quilts to add to my collection (a few will be showing up in the ol shop any day now:)) We went for a nice drive on an afternoon as well and explored little local towns. We enjoyed some fun episodes of our favorite cooking shows, juicy fruits and berries, a few very close games of Yahtzee and Jacks, and lots of late night talks (my favorite). Here are a few some pictures from the trip:

All in all it was a fantastic and much needed vacation from everything, but its good to be back:)
xo, Emily
